Dr. Schumer acquired the East Tucson office on Wilmot in 2012 and has personally led the practice ever since. He handles treatment in his office and only refers procedures to specialists to provide all patients with the proper care they deserve. Dr. Schumer has no associates in his office — every patient sees him personally.

Toothache, broken tooth, lost crown or swelling? Call our Wilmot Road office first at (520) 745-0126. Dr. Schumer will always do his best to see you the same day — new patients included. We don't take walk-ins, so please call ahead and we'll find the soonest time.
We're open Monday to Thursday 8 AM – 5 PM and Friday 8 AM – 2 PM. Outside those hours, leave a message and we'll call you back as soon as we open. If you have swelling spreading to your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious facial injury, go to the ER or call 911.

Do you accept dental insurance at the East Tucson office?
Our East Tucson office contracts with Delta Dental Premier, but we accept payments from any PPO insurance and bill them on your behalf. This means you can still see us with most insurance plans — there may simply be a slightly higher out-of-pocket cost compared to an in-network dentist. We handle all the paperwork and file everything for you. Schumer Dental is one of the few remaining independent, doctor-owned dental practices in Tucson — not a corporate dental chain or private-equity-backed group, which means Dr. Schumer makes decisions about your care, not investors or corporate quotas. We also accept HSA, FSA, and CareCredit financing. Please note: our East Tucson and Oro Valley offices are two separate business entities. Are the East Tucson and Oro Valley offices the same practice?
Although we are two separate business entities legally, we share staff and Dr. Schumer between both offices. You'll get the same Dr. Schumer and the same standard of care at either location — but insurance coverage varies by location. Our East Tucson office contracts with Delta Dental Premier and accepts PPO payments; our Oro Valley office does not contract with Delta Dental but offers different insurance coverages. Please call the office you'd like to visit to confirm your plan.
Do you offer cosmetic dentistry at the East Tucson office?
Yes — cosmetic services including porcelain veneers, take-home whitening, smile makeovers, and aesthetic crowns. Dr. Schumer takes a careful, conservative approach to cosmetic work. We do not offer in-office bleaching (it can cause significant sensitivity) or gum contouring — for those we'll refer you to a trusted specialist.
How is Schumer Dental different from other Tucson dentists?
Two things stand out: Dr. Schumer personally handles your treatment (not associates), and the office is equipped with modern technology — same-day digital crown milling, low-radiation digital X-rays, and intraoral cameras. You see what we see and you don't sit around waiting for a lab.

For spreading swelling, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious facial injury, go to the ER or call 911. Please note: Dr. Schumer no longer performs oral surgery. For adult knocked-out teeth requiring re-implantation, we refer you to one of several trusted oral surgeons we work with — so you have options for the fastest care.
